Global Engineering Services Provider Sedgman GmbH Opens Office in Frankfurt

The international business location Frankfurt RheinMain is gaining a new addition from Down Under: Australian-headquartered global provider of integrated minerals processing solutions Sedgman GmbH has opened an office in Frankfurt. The company is a subsidiary of the globally operating Sedgman Pty Ltd, which is a part of the ACS and HOCHTIEF Group. Sedgman specialises in multidisciplinary engineering services, construction management and project development in the field of mineral processing. The establishment of the Frankfurt office was supported by FrankfurtRheinMain GmbH – International Marketing of the Region (FRM GmbH) and will be further supported by Frankfurt Economic Development GmbH going forward.

Mike Josef, Mayor of the City of Frankfurt and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of FRM GmbH, commented: “The establishment of Sedgman is further proof of the attractiveness of the Frankfurt RheinMain region for international companies. Our region is increasingly coming into focus for Australian businesses as well. Five of Australia’s six states are already represented in Frankfurt am Main with official offices. As an internationally oriented city, Frankfurt offers companies an ideal environment for business success. We provide English speaking professionals with international backgrounds and excellent global connectivity—via Frankfurt Airport, the motorway hub and the rail network.”

Sedgman was founded in Brisbane in 1980 and has since developed into a global market leader in mineral processing, with offices in Asia Pacific and North American regions – and now in Europe with Germany. Sedgman is a part of the ACS and HOCHTIEF Group, with ACS Group reporting €49.9 billion in revenue in 2025 and employing more than 160,000 people.

With the Frankfurt office, Sedgman is expanding its presence in Germany and Europe and moving closer to its customers in German speaking markets. Sedgman and HOCHTIEF Infrastructure were appointed last year as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management contractor for Vulcan’s Lionheart Project, delivering an end-to-end solution for the €397 million Lithium Extraction Plant and €337 million Central Lithium Plant.

Tony Dopheide, Sedgman’s Director Europe Development commented: “Sedgman is pleased to have located its European Head Office in Frankfurt last year and recognises the value of the location as a central hub from which to support our growing portfolio of mineral and metals projects and provide regional support to the European Critical Raw Material Act. Frankfurt offers us access to quality talent, services and equipment providers in Germany and will support our international technology partnerships.”

The company has opened its new engineering services office and is the process of opening a number of satellite offices to support its mineral and metal projects in Germany and other EU countries with a rapidly growing technical and project development team.

“Europe, and Germany in particular, is increasingly coming into focus for Australia. That is why we integrated Australia into our international strategy several years ago. In FrankfurtRheinMain, people are open to new ideas and committed to international cooperation. The vibrant exchange of knowledge and ideas is what makes our region so successful and attractive. Proficiency in English also makes it easy for Australian companies targeting the German and European markets to get started here,” said Eric Menges, President & CEO FRM GmbH.
